The Sarasota Orchestra’s 75th anniversary season includes Beethoven’s Symphony No. 3. Known as “Eroica,” it is considered to be one of the most important compositions ever written. Originally inspired by Napoleon Bonaparte, Beethoven ultimately paid tribute to the ideal of the hero, not an individual.
The Sarasota Orchestra’s program also includes J. Strauss Jr.’s Overture to “Fledermaus” and Michael Torke’s “Sky” Concerto for Violin and Orchestra, featuring Tessa Lark.
