In the early 1960s, Cuban parents sent more than 14,000 unaccompanied children to the U.S. in the hopes their offspring would escape indoctrination by Fidel Castro’s new government. Leymis Bolaños Wilmott’s parents were part of the exodus known as Operación Pedro Pan. In “Cuban Project: Historias,” Bolaños Wilmott explores the history and experiences of her family and others caught up in this unprecedented wave of immigration.
